while not a strictly realist filmmaker himself, Kurosawa Kiyoshi is strongly influenced by realist cinema. most obviously is in "To the Ends of the Earth" (2019) which revolves around the same kind of profound alienation that centers in much of Jia Zhangke's work. #filmsky 📽

this film is pretty bad, but it's amusing that the whole concept revolves around the idea "wouldn't it be scary if there was a guy. who was like. REALLY tall."
