I don’t really know. Perhaps I am completely off-base. Maybe I’m right. It doesn’t really matter much what I think, but when many think one way or another, it changes the narrative.
Missiles will fly, bombs will be dropped. People will die.

What do we do?
Tell them to stop. No more war.

It could be because he believes that Israel is losing the backing of Americans. Again, the people, not the government. After what happened in Gaza, there is a lot of people who no longer support Israel.
It could be his way of trying to influence not only America, but other western nations.

They want to step away from the conflict, which to their mind is the best path for China.
All nations are facing this decision. Netanyahu has been going on TV, speaking in English, and seems to be appealing to the American people.

Not the government. The people. Why?

The only time I don’t go grocery shopping with my wife is when I’m sick. Also the only time she doesn’t go grocery shopping with me is when she’s sick. We discuss sale items and substitutions if our usual are not available at the store. This should not be controversial.

I could back that idea.

It’s a lot harder than it sounds. You are trying to change the working and sleeping patterns of a massive chunk of population. You’d have to get all businesses on board as well. Either way eliminating the clock changes twice a year would be beneficial.

The amount of daylight doesn’t change, but energy usage does. The vast majority of people are not home during the day (they are at work), and later sunsets means people use less lighting at home in the evenings, saving energy.

Yes. This is my stance. I can deal with a later sunrise in exchange for a later sunset.

I understand the reason for DST. If one were to be eliminated, I would eliminate Standard time. Keeping the reason for DST (energy savings), while eliminating the annoying flipping of the clocks.

In 1996 it was 12.8 percent according to census.gov

I looked it up, apparently now it is 13.7%, so I wasn’t off. I would not have been informed enough in 1996 to have made an educated guess. I was nineteen back then, and I did not pay much attention to demographics, politics, or really anything but drinking and partying.

I KNEW I wasn’t real. I just knew it! 🙄

I guess whatever makes him feel good about himself. 🤷‍♂️

Hmmm, seems I was off too. I was thinking around 13%.

I have not read his biography, but I have read a few on his rise to power. There are some differences, but the similarities far outnumber them. Very chilling.

How many of us could be in the position of Baron von Trapp? Or of Max Detweiler? Or, sadly, Hans Zeller or Rolf Gruber?

We can do the right thing, but we must have the courage and conviction.

Never before has this movie filled me with a sense of dread. This time, it did. The weird parallels between 1930s Austria and us here in North America today, struck me with a fear that we could see, and are seeing, that political undertone the movie had. It’s quite frightening.
