Thinking about it, it is kinda crazy that both Quake and Mario 64 stuck the landing, despite being both studios first effort into full 3D.

Pretty sure most modern games use GOAP or some equivalent. FEAR's AI is like an intersection between the GOAP system, level design and voice acting. As far as I understand anyway.
I do want more games like FEAR though.
