We spend exorbitant amounts on our military, so we should be a dominant force. Although,we have a very difficult time achieving actual victory in these asymmetrical wars. Especially, the most recent history, going back to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Think of America as a ship at sea. It will be a rough ride at times, but this ship is the pinnacle of the world in many respects. Our economy generally stays a course, not withstanding periods such as the 2008 financial crisis,or Covid.
