The NYT is capping his ascent at mayor?
They don’t believe he could go higher?

Congrats on a terrific investigation. My favourite bit from the piece:
“The investigation has involved everything from tracing digital trails and family social media accounts, to scouring abandoned properties for old phone bills and credit card information.” :})
Love your work. Keep it up.

That’s prob a tougher answer. Likely depends on your field, skillset, capacity/opportunity/willingness to alter course.

Resist attempts to divide — don’t argue w bots

Be civil + genuine in online discussions w those who disagree — contrib positively

Resist false content — always call out dis-/misinfo

Don’t share content unless you’ve verified it (learn how)

Call out + reject AI slop

Don’t be guided by emotions

Social media has rewritten the rules of personal relations, public discourse + the v nature of what ppl believe/trust is real.

It has also been weaponised by bad actors to undermine soc/pol cohesion in lib democracies. We don’t really hate ea other as much as it appears on socmedia.

Solutions … ?

A 50% reliability rate (see graphic) seems an unreasonably low acceptable level to measure AI’s ability and, therefore, usefulness.

Lot of people in the comments seem to be wasting breath arguing with bots.

Perhaps. I’ve been tempted to think the same thing.
But without hard facts/evidence, this is a conspiracy theory.

That’s a disappointingly myopic response from Smith

Regarding terms: the Journalism academic community now uses the term OSINV (Open Source Investigation), rather than OSINT. Journalists use a limited set of tools and processes for specific purposes — all of which come under the OSINT umbrella — but are less concerned with security breaches work.

By the way, those coordinates do match the pic location I confirmed using some drone footage from YT. Posted it above.
June 29, 2025 at 11:32 AM
GeoGuessrGPT and OSM gave me the same coords, but when I put them into different mapping platforms the results weren’t consistent.
