There’s something satisfying in destructive rhetoric, an emotional high from being “offensive”, embracing cruelty, engaging in provocation, deflecting everything with plausible deniability

I hear what you're saying but I don't like undereducated because many of the people I know back home got just as much schooling as I did. They are preyed upon by people who desire that they should believe wrong things. Their attention and trust is a prize.

hah that was great! I found the podcast since I'd been hunting for more recent stuff, I had been following the Moldbug story for a long time and kind of thought it wouldn't come to anything, sadly. New Republic did a good piece about the Thiel/Vance/et al crowd: newrepublic.com/article/1839...
Where J.D. Vance Gets His Weird, Terrifying Techno-Authoritarian Ideas
Yes, Peter Thiel was the senator’s benefactor. But they’re both inspired by an obscure software developer who has some truly frightening thoughts about reordering society.

he seems like the kind of fellow who tries to build a following by stringing together statements which create a sense of surprise and delight in the listener to which the message was targeted. I feel like there's a word for groups that assemble around those people.
