I think the funniest thing in the whole argument was that when I get to assign a reading list (a vanishing concept these days) I do bring a lot of contemporary spec fic in. I had a whole class read Annihilation! I just don’t like stem lords acting like they’ve solved education!

This one guy was trying to argue with me we need more genre fiction and I was like okay what would you assign my high schoolers and he said “uuh Andy Weir I guess”
