Has James McGrath shut up about them yet? Was making the ABC coverage unwatchable.

I'm still unsure whether I should bother with the China Miéville and Keanu Reeves book.

the Broken Empire trilogy is the best fantasy series I’ve read, including all the usual classics. Only China Mieville’s Bas Lag series really comes close.

Bravo. Hammering Labor for not being the Greens day in day out will be enough to shift the relatively few votes required to elect Dutton.

Haven't been following this. What's the issue with the Editorial Manager?

Some rather large flaws in the analysis. Agriculture doesn't come under trades, and is a large user. There are also many legitimate uses for 4wds that don't involve trades or towing. Hybrids like the BYD Shark are the future IMO.

Well now we know exactly how many incels there are in the country without having to conduct any more expensive surveys

Yeah, it's a silly overgeneralisation.

I was being facetious, but yes to the above. I do wonder what the relative portion of the supply crisis is due to an aging population not churning to smaller properties with fewer bedrooms. Suburbs only 8-10 km from the Brisbane CBD are falling in population.

My method of forcing aging empty nesters on the Sunshine Coast to live in appropriate sized houses would free up enough capacity for the entire country.

Why not both?
November 25, 2024 at 5:54 AM
No. Just like Google Authenticator, for example. The Authenticator knows who you are, not the site requesting. Are there edge cases where a kid could still set up an account? Sure, but they would involve an adult. Like age restricted alcohol consumption. Not perfect, but worthwhile

What's specifically wrong with the ban? If there's more risks than benefits, there needs to be changes. If social media companies refuse to mitigate those risks, it's up to government. Will it stop every kid using social media? No. Will it reduce usage in a good proportion? Probably.

I agree, but it's difficult to see how any such plan could be implemented at a Federal level. The inadequacy of supply seems to almost be entirely at the State and Local level.

I'd imagine a centralised age verification system that's not privacy intrusive like providing photo ID. Similar to authentication apps currently in wide usage. Very low barrier to entry, particularly as it would be required on account setup and not login.

How would Albo adequately address affordable housing?
November 25, 2024 at 3:05 AM
What obstacles would there be? Age verification on specific social media sites seems pretty minor. Different thing if there's scope creep outside of the currently defined set though.
