I love your work, but I’ve given up on WaPo. Get on Substack, please!

In fact, we’ve done far too much. #weaponsforgenocide#MadeInUSA

Well, Dick Van Dyke is a better singer…

I’m six months in on an iPhone 12 - $1 a month for three years from my carrier. Text, video, even phone calls! This thing does it all - why would i upgrade?

Wouldn’t it be fun to flood LLMs with 2nd grade art and force them to see that as the norm on which to base their B.S. “art”?

Huh?! You want me to WHAT, Dad?

Probably the wrong place to ask, but I’ve been wanting to read a good history of the Kent State Massacre.

I vividly remember being 10 and struggling to understand why American soldiers were shooting college students…

So, our new normal is supposed to be that we read books that are, by definition, derivative, based on what tens of thousands of others have written in real life? I can’t wait for:

A Clockwork Purple
The Color Orange
1983
Lord of the Earrings
The Beetles: A History in Song

While the mechanics seem good & the presence of many Survivor alum make it compelling, I just can’t stomach the over the top performance of the host.

One always knew Jeff Probst loved the game, and had the sense he would host it for free. Alan Cumming just seems desperate for people to notice him.

I’ll never trust Meta enough to even try Threads. Sorry Mark, suicidal teens, Cambridge Analytica, privacy sucking data collection and feeds at the mercy of your corporate greed for some reason don’t appeal to me.

Not necessarily in order - an exercise I find frustrating:
Beatles
Bowie
R.E.M
Pink Floyd
The Clash

Godel, Escher, Bach is a stunning achievement that remains compelling. One of my favorites.

My last question to applicants in job interviews job is always “What is the last book you read?” I find the answer and ensuing discussion tell me more about a candidate than the traditional (and easily gamed) questions that precede it.

One Book - Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid

One Movie - Betty Blue

One Album - The Beatles (White Album)
