Great read. I remember being surprised at the aspect of having to "look into the future" to resolve collisions. My naive self at the time thought "is there really no simpler way?"

The collision code in my 2D action game ended up being the most difficult thing to write by far (text boxes in 2nd).

I'd go on to say more specifically that you should resize your images to 800%. This way each pixel is exactly the size of a jpg compression block, and should essentially look lossless.
