Never use alcohol. Just the cloths. Any vcr will do. There are tutorials on YouTube that are very good at showing one the process.

Remove the mold from the tape physically. If it's a tape with stuff you don't want to lose I'd get it immediately digitized and I'd practice on another moldy tape first (goodwill has plenty generally)

Due to storage conditions mold can form on tapes and that is what has happened here. One would need to have a spare vcr, microfiber cloths. Take top off vcr, some may not give you a good angle but once opened put the tape in and fast forward/rewind while using the microfiber cloths to-
