I totally understand why Trump is paranoid about what may emerge from an FBI check of his Cabinet picks. But even if he doesn’t involve the FBI, shouldn’t he be equally concerned about damaging leaks about his candidates from the FBI or other sources?

If Trump doesn’t release the “hostages” (for fear of backlash or criticism), don’t be surprised if he blames the Democrats or other obstacles beyond his control.
