There is no one alive today as brave as Rev Fred Shuttlesworth was 60 years ago.
No one.

Selma and the Civil Rights marches from 60 years ago serve as the role models for us today. Are you willing to make serious sacrifices to stand up for what is right? 6/6

Today we face a lying corrupt executive branch with few checks and balances. If Blacks were willing to risk their jobs, homes and lives to get their constitutional right to vote, everyone today should be brave enough to risk the same to save Democracy. 5/6

Sixty years ago in Selma, the goal was gaining the right to vote. The people who marched lost their jobs, lost their homes and many ended up living in tent city for years, until they could get on their feet. And of course others were killed and most were terrorized. 4/6

But what was the best part of today in Selma were the citizens from all over the United States. We drove from Colorado specifically to attend. We met people from everywhere who did the same. Many make it a rule to attend every year, as a reminder of what mass protests can achieve. 3/6

Today’s Selma anniversary march – the Golden Jubilee - brought Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Ralph Warnock, Hakeem Jeffries, U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters and other politicians. And my husband and me. 2/6

Today we marched with tens of thousands of others across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama. This past week marks the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when John Lewis and others were beaten by state troopers as they crossed the bridge. 1/6

Visited Little Rick High School today, where nine high school students were braver than anyone I have ever met. Who amongst us are willing to stand strong against the bullies inside the beltway today?
