We’ve named her Nancy, and she’s getting along very well with our other household pets. As we thought when adopting her, she is totally deaf. Our vet examined her ears and found no indications of prior infections or trauma that might have caused her condition and concluded she has probably been deaf since birth. Nancy’s a smart girl and is learning hand signs for basic obedience and behavior. We are lucky to have such a special girl as part of our family. Athens-Clarke County Animal Control is having a special evening adoption this Wednesday, September 13, from 6 to 8pm. Even if you’re not thinking about an adoption, come by and tour the shelter, interact with a few dogs, have a popsicle and a good time.
