On the other hand you probably wouldn't expect the Tories to misspell 'Britain', so orthographic failure is not necessarily an indication of some felonious wrongdoing. Incompetence, yes, but not always criminality.

I've had quite a few holidays in France. I guess it's only a matter of time before they ask me to have a go.

France and UK are suffering from the reality that neither country can preserve existing levels of social support, e.g. pensions and healthcare, without raising taxes a lot. And no politician has the guts to say so since it's political suicide.
The USA is in a unique hell of its own making.

(Note: I'm not a sponsor, benevolent or otherwise - I'm just curious about what parts of historical study are unknown enough to merit that kind of effort.)

Imagine some benevolent sponsor said they would fund five years for you and a handful of PhD students to research any area of historical study that you wanted, and which would need that kind of time frame - What would you choose to focus on?

$27.95?!?? Is that normal, or does the corned beef come from Brazil? I guess 50% tariffs might do that...

Don't think I've ever seen such an inept display of penalty taking.

I was in Italy recently and got talking to a US couple, from Washington DC, at the next table. They were quite apologetic and agreed with me that it's best to wait a while before visiting the US again.
That 'while' just got much longer.

After the Hamilton by-election - 1st Labour, 2nd SNP, 3rd Reform - it was Reform's Tice that had the lengthy sound bite interview on Radio 4.
But Scotland has, over the years, become used to the BBC platforming minority opinions.

Looks like it is just hanging on the leather straps, so it will swing back and forward a bit but it can't really go anywhere. As long as the driver is gentle on the horses then it looks like quite a pleasant way to get around.

I was 11 and returning with the family from a holiday in California when Mount St Helens was erupting. Flying north out of LA, the pilot followed the west coast more than normal so as to give everyone a view of the ash cloud away in the distance.
