in retaliation they made sure that vernn would live, only barely. so he could suffer forever and ever, just as he had done to them.

what the others didnt realize is that vernn had a contingency for this: strategically placed explosives that, once activated, would cause the lab to caved in, allowing nothing to escape. so while the monsters got their revenge, the lost their freedom.

after all of that, they carried him to the bottom of his lab, and locked him in his most secure cell. the perfect place for him to rot.

they stuffed his body with too much energy, much more than anyone could handle. but they made damn sure he survived and watched as his body contorted and twisted, as his jaw cracked open and his gums peel back. hearing every pop and crunch of his bones as he became just like them.

but of course, he couldnt account for the hundreds of monsters he had locked in his basement, and eventually, one broke out.
then they released everyone else.
and they had their revenge on vernn, tying him down to his operation table and giving him the same procedure he had given them.

vernn knew this of course but he knew his research was worth it. if he found what he was looking for, no one would ever have to die again. whats a few measly bodies compared to the rest of the world. have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

vernn had halls upon halls filled with monsters that wanted their revenge on him. he had ruined their lives, and no one even knew. all their families just thought they had passed during the operation, not that they had been trapped and tortured. they wanted to get him back.

but he continued his studies nonetheless, surely he would find some pattern. but as the tests continued, the bodies built up, the lab expanded. he was now running a full scale operation. word had spread to even more places. it was overwhelming.

his progress was next to nothing however, there were too many variables to find a correlation. things like the illness the patient had, body structure, the amount of energy used in the procedure, all changed the outcome. there was nothing concrete about it. nothing to attach to.

where the real tests could begin. he would test different conditions to see what exactly effected the transformation process, how he could avoid certain aspects but avoid others. he was trying to meticulously craft the perfect husk, one that wouldnt decay, or go crazy.

his plan from then on was simple: he would turn these people into husks and then, if the transformation wasnt too detrimental, send them back to their loving families. but if they were transformed into hideous monsters, he would pronounce them “dead”. and bring them to his underground lab

he decided that he would peddle huskhood as a “cure” to terminal illnesses, directly targeting people who didnt have another option. but, because of the way he sold it, it was perceived that he was helping these poor people. and of course the patients started to flood in.

he believed that he could find a way to counteract these affects, but he needed test subjects. but no regular person would willingly subject themself to huskhood, so no one was interested. he then thought that if he targeted a specific demographic, they wouldnt be able to say no.

while it got him close to what he desired, the negative affects of becoming a husk were too great. the cognitive decline, horrific transformations, and of course, the cannibalistic hunger, held him back from his “cure”.

the goal is to make his face much more fish-y lookings and to make him a lot bigger. the clothes also need to change because he just looks like a fisherman and not an actual pirate captain, also the stance is kinda lame ngl… i need to do something much more character appropriate, y’know?
