Haha thanks, but a firm putt would have held its line. Just lacking that killer instinct on the greens

The 3rd green is looking very good, just a little bit of rolling and time to settle. I think we'll be playing on it before the end of March. 4th green doesn't seem to have progressed. 5th green is slightly improved without any drastic action

Missing from 2 feet is painful enough once a round, but it happened twice yesterday. Including this one that I stuck close from 55m. Annoyingly I've had to cancel a putting lesson later this week because of work. This is the 3rd time I've done so!

I lost two balls off the tee, one with driver and the other with 3 iron. Penalties off the tee feel like a distant memory as I've really worked hard on strategy over the last 6 months.

Putting was also costly. A couple of silly 3 putts (one totally understandable, too) and even a 4 putt

It's all fun and games! Great fun if you're ever in Melbourne

And yes, that's a kids playground on the right hand side...

There's a hole at Westgate golf club in Melbourne that might qualify for this, but I think it's low-key genius.

Dog-leg par 3. Genuinely need to shape your tee shot around trees. From memory it's about 165m from the comp tees. Slightly downhill to an upturned saucer green. Bogey is a good score!

Did they warn you before you paid? I understand that they might need to collect the pins for fear of them being pinched, and staff probably clock off at 6pm so it's maybe inevitable that it happens, but not acceptable to not warn you. What state are you in?

I've had a couple of weeks to drill these swing positions and I'm making good progress, I think. 1 fat shot in yesterday's round, compared to an avg of ~5

Directionally....I'm all over the place, but we'll get to that in the next lesson. I have a feeling my hand position at the top will be key

3: sequencing (hip rotation first) and side bend through impact are good, but tempo needs to improve. More patience. I mustn't allow that to impact the sequencing, though.

2: the right arm is collapsing. This comes from and/or leads to a lack of shoulder turn. Hard to tell from DTL but my shoulder turn is less than 90° but I am capable of more!

Feeling the right hand extend away from the body and turning my right shoulder back to target

Red lines=arms
Green=club

1: I'm getting very "inside" in the takeaway. Work on keeping the left arm further away from my right hip until club parallel. Along the red line is exaggerated, but that's the feel I'm aiming for

No sir, 260ish metres. Short par 4. Frustratingly it's the same shot needed to hit the narrow fairway, though. No point in laying up.

May as well be up there and buggered rather than short and buggered!

Mostly straight up and down, some slight dog legs. Very few bunkers and one lake. Unimaginative golf course that's been allowed to fall into disrepair. I won't be back 😤

One interesting hole, almost unplayable for many golfers. Got to start the ball in a narrow corridor and draw it. I overdrew the ball and finished left of the green but it was a big hit, 260ish metres

I've never seen sprinklers in the greens before? Maybe the greens used to be smaller and they didn't want the cost of moving the irrigation

From coring to burnt out, to swampy. We played preferred lies despite not being given any guidance from the pro shop. Random GUR signs were all over the place, but never seemingly in the right place 🤷‍♂️ I lost 4 balls today, very unusual for me to lose more than a ball.
February 1, 2025 at 11:54 PM
All of the photos I'll post are of the "fairways" and greens. Fairways were cored recently, but they've done such a terrible job of it I can't see how it will recover

We were over 20 minutes late teeing off, the course was backed up with several groups of 5 ahead of us. Took us 2.5hrs for the first 9. A big part of the problem was people looking for balls. 3m off the fairway and you've got a challenge to find your ball. The condition was bad..

I don't think PGN normally have a slot at Hillview, today's round was part of the Carco cup. I think Hillview were taking the piss when they signed up for a PGN event. There was a competition ahead of us that were 15 mins late and the pro shop tried to squeeze in a public group in between 🤦‍♂️

Oh wow, that's cool. I've never seen that before
