Watched the trailer for Dracula and it feels like a near beat-for-beat echo of Bram Stoker’s Dracula — tragic origin, lost wife, reincarnated love. Coppola invented that to humanize Dracula. Reusing it here just feels hollow.

Watched the trailer for Dracula and it feels like a near beat-for-beat echo of Bram Stoker’s Dracula — tragic origin, lost wife, reincarnated love. Coppola invented that to humanize Dracula. Reusing it here just feels hollow.

It’s been a heavy and painful few days for the Jewish community. The deadly attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi Beach, followed by the loss of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, makes this moment especially heartbreaking.
