Found more info on the graphic novel. A Texas teacher was fired for reading it in class after it was deemed inappropriate because it says she was gay. According to what I’ve read it was removed from required reading lists of some schools because it’s racially insensitive and uses the n word. So it hasn’t been taken off shelves but the moral panic about not reading it in schools i agree is total bullshit
