Contrarian - I probably don't mean it
It's somewhat annoying, as there's an amazing Melania film to be made - it's just not this one

This is less about Trump, than the complete collapse of checks and balances on presidential power.
It's normal to want to get your own way. Trump's just a man. The problem is how you fix your state to cope with the next president - and first you need to find what's wrong, and how you ended up here.

Not uncommon to make you type something, when it's really really important.
Clicking OK or hitting y occasionally leads to mistakes. Making you type "I accept this will delete all my data" (or similar) make you think about what you're about to do.

Or alternatively

'No need, I can walk it'

"We're going to send you back to where you came from!"

'You first'

And you're definitely sure he didn't fake it, to dodge this hard-hitting question?
He must have always known it was coming.

*Looks confused in European*

How's anybody going to overthrow the tyranny of overpriced mediocre food? And if you can't even do that, then.. well I've frankly got doubts..

Trump pardons self, then realises Elon hasn't tweeted that one yet.

Nah, you'd just kick off their prayer vigil for his resurrection/second coming following his selection. Which would then morph into an effort to 'purify' the country of the sinners blocking his glorious return.

I've given up assuming anything that happens has sensible results any more.

Citizens being responsible for all actions of their government always feels easier when you're talking about somebody else's government.

I don't remember the popular uprising in the US after 9/11, suggesting the wrong people were about to be killed and subsequent war crime trials.

In much the same way as we differentiate Palestinians and Hamas, we should differentiate Israelis and Bibi

Or think of the positives.
Technology has let you self publish your novel, sequence an orchestra on your laptop, shoot footage on your phone etc.

Maybe AI is just the next step. I've got an idea for a film in my head with no talent/time/capability to express it. Maybe AI could let me make a short

Storytellers used to evolve their stories each night by the fire, music could only be played live, performances were always actors on a stage - and relatively recently we replaced these with static recordings owned by corporations. Value assigned by number of clones manufactured.
That was weird too

I thought the papal ball-check was a myth?

My feeling is that this is just ongoing change - just suddenly the current group is clutching their pearls as they thought they were special.

Artists lost work with photography. Stage actors with film. Practical effects with CGI. Scribes with the Press etc.

Why is this different?

But you could make that same argument for anything that impacts anybody's income.

E.g. Electric cars are about to make a load of ICU vehicle mechanics redundant - and I'm sure some of them like writing poetry.
May 8, 2025 at 3:05 PM
But conversely I think there is a misunderstanding on the 'artist' side as well.
E.g. If you take photos of women laughing at salad, to sell to a photo library, mainly to be used as website placeholders - you're a tradesperson, an artisan - but not an artist.

That's the latter definition.
Originally though, it was just an aggressive and incremental form of Daylight Savings. Time was moved forward a minute every night, causing you to progressively feel just a fraction more tired every morning. Nobody liked it, hence the name.

Always fun when they bring back guest stars from previous series.

“Somebody said to me ‘Alina, would you rather be smart or pretty?’ and I said ‘Oh easy, pretty… I can fake being smart’."

Who's going to tell her?

Because organised crime is already employing all the competent lawyers, prepared to break the law.
