Of course. But Russian mobsters were there, and they touched many of Trump's projects (as did the older organized crime families in NYC, which went mostly unreported in the media, with the notable exception of Wayne Barrett, in the non-mainstream Village Voice).

...recent emigres from Georgia, Uzbekistan, and other Eastern European countries. Also, Uyghurs (my wife and I had an in incredible lunch at a Georgian/Uyghur restaurant). What was missing was a sense of "Jewishness" in the neighborhood that was there very strongly when I was growing up.

Side note: I grew up up in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, which in the late '50s through the early '70s was heavily populated by
