One of these emails says something like ‘does Putin have a pic of Trump blowing bubba?’ And I think it would be something like that. Not what we all would find terrible but what Trump would find personally humiliating

Probably because too often discussions of this come of with an air of resigned acceptance of the intolerance of patrimonialism when it should be acknowledgement that this is simply a weakness our side can exploit

Seems like what Kruse and fine and consistent. Point was that subsidies were not a sufficient ask for bargaining but since that was the sole item Dems chose to focus on they shouldn’t have folded until they got it.

Would love to know the breakdown of single family homes to condos/townhomes. I want to assume it’s heavily tilted towards the latter but I’ve also known several retirement-age people who decide to buy a bigger house which is a baffling choice to me.

Kind of like backing into rent control. A guaranteed stable payment and no one can force you to move but with little to no equity when you want to move.

Thanks, yeah that sucks. Flanagan seems like the best of the lot at this point. Just anecdotally as a parent with kids in MPS my sense is that we’ve finally crested the wave of interest charter schools, only took like three decades

Long been thought that the libs who make up the base of the Dem party will accept whatever scraps are fed to them by their own party and I do think there is a limit to that and that limit is being tested

Also clear that trajectory matters as much as current state. A materially poorer world that people perceive to be improving is more satisfying than one that is richer but worsening

Yeah plus sometimes the same metrics look fine for the population as a whole but bad for certain sub groups and if those sub groups are part of your coalition maybe you should care even if The Chart says you don’t have to

We’re in a spot where most people are still pretty disengaged with what’s going on so greater intellectual sophistication among those who are overly worried (a small and already more informed group) is not what I would rank as a high priority
