While the focus of the article is clearly on the Medieval period, I've been so fascinated by the mixed genome of the Roman lady. I nicknamed her Laurentia since the burial was excavated near the parish of San Lorenzo in Valencia city. The burail is Late Roman but still pagan.

Have you ever struck gold? I did while drilling a petrous bone. Remains of the gold wrapped thread used in the embroidery and/or brocade of the shroud. It's the 11th century CE Al-Andalus equivalent of the modern zari used in sari embroidery. #H2020 #aDNA #heritage
