It's #yyj police budget season! VicPD wants $81.1M, a 12.5% increase over last year, including $2M councils said ‘no’ to previously (they're waiting on an appeal). If councillors give them the new $7M, and the province makes them pay the $2M, it's a $22.9 million, 39.3% increase in the last 5 years.

I created a Bluesky account and spent like 5 minutes trying to do the "like 10 posts!" start-up goal before I got sidetracked for hours by a post about the city's 2025 budget and proposed 10% increase to the police operations. VicPD doesn't need more cops. #yyj Budget feedback open till Dec 20th!
