Researchers at Göttingen Campus CIDBN, MPI-DS & Uni programmed “infomorphic neurons” and constructed artificial neural networks. They found that artificial neurons also used independent learning to solve tasks: www.uni-goettingen.de/en/3240.html...

Image shows representation of living neurons receiving signals from different sources, processing them and passing an output signal on to other neurons (left hand side, looking very much like a tree with branches and roots). In the artificial neuron model, this information processing can be described and improved by a learning objective (right hand side, looking like three funnels feeding into another funnel which refines or focuses the information).
