I do stuff in blender and unity sometimes. Maybe someday I’ll be good at it

The trick is to eat so many that you hit int overload and live another 2 million years. That’s my plan.

I definitely worry about the kids that will grow up with it always having existed.

My silver lining is AI can never truly replace artists/ animators/ screen writers/ etc. because it can only be derivative by nature so creative projects that push the envelope will continue to bubble to the top

I agree. But it’s such a shallow relationship with art that I almost feel bad for them

Also that was only like 6 months of drawing in my spare time (like and hour a week maybe) and it only cost me however much the cheapest sketchbook I could find was.

I started practicing drawing purely as a means to an end to get better at blender and game development and It wasn't until I figured out how to enjoy the process of sketching that I was able to get to a place where I'm not unhappy with what I draw. 7/8

AI bros always give the argument like "I want these pictures to exist but I can't do art" and I get it, I found drawing incredibly frustrating for years because I couldn't put what I imagined on the page in a way that looked good. 6/8

I kinda segways nicely into what I like about modern art: all of the modern art pieces that stand out to me completely forgos a subject to hyper-focus on the process. Jacob Geller has a very good video about that, it's what made me like modern art: youtu.be/v5DqmTtCPiQ?... 5/8

Like even with commissioned portraits: I feel the noble whoever paying for a portrait is just an excuse for the artist to communicate whatever they intend to communicate through their art and that extra layer would be completely lost if the patron just used AI instead 4/8

I feel like art is mostly about the conversation between the artist and the viewer (even if that conversation is "look how good of a painter I am") that I don't believe that the subject is really all that important 3/8

I feel the fundamental misunderstanding AI bros have is they're too focused on the end product instead of finding joy in the process. Like Monet didn't paint haystacks because he wanted paintings of haystacks. He painted them because he wanted to paint. 2/8
