Lot of ups and downs in this one. The pre-merge is really entertaining for obvious reasons, but as a result, after the merge things get really...boring and sour. The drama is trite at this point, the winner is predictable as fuck, and the final 3 challenge doesn't save it.

Since I personally chose to skip ahead to this one after finishing season 8, I will admit that it's clear they've gotten better at producing a show that doesn't feel mean-spirited and icky, discounting when contestants occasionally go too far. That makes it more watchable. But again, boring season.

To give it a little bit of credit though, it didn't have the sheer season long incompetency from the cast that Borneo did, it didn't have the rampant bigotry that Thailand did, and it wasn't boring like Australia. Plus, a few of the early boots were really cathartic. But yeah, still disliked it.

This season was just...really annoying. Several nigh unwatchably uncomfortable moments involving the contestants' personal lives, obnoxious over-moralizing of very simple strategic moves, boring strategy, a predictable boot order, and yet another season of "majority alliance beats the outsiders."

dude were these seriously the top four fan favorites? boring white guy, the old guy who consistently made death threats, "it's just a game, don't be mad" ver 2.0, and rupert? okay rupert is pretty cool i'll give you that

That said, the characters were by far the best part. Pretty much all of them were likeable in one way or another, with Natalia, Tristan, Isabel and Lynda being particularly notable. This cast is also just, really funny. ONC continues to make each season funnier than the last. Very excited for dc5.

The challenges and the theming are easily among my favorite parts of the season. The abandoned carnival setting and the litany of challenges and twists it provides was a very inspired choice. They kinda scraped the bottom of the barrel a few times, but most challenges were fresh and engaging.

Really fun season. Maybe dragged on a little much in the latter third, and the boot order by then was generally predictable, but the execution of the story was done well. The cast was fun, the theme was great, it's just a solid season all around.

I think the map variety could've mayyyybe been a little better, and the story is like, slightly easier to take seriously than the first game's, but at the cost of...spectacle? I guess? That aside, it's more PowerWash Simulator, and I loved it.

While I think I marginally prefer the first game, I still had a lot of fun with this sequel. The new maps are really cool, the new mechanics are a lot of fun to use, and the cats are cats so that rocks too.

Not a super interesting season, but it has some merit in how it's the first season where I feel like I'm watching something removed from reality instead of constantly thinking about these being real people and getting uncomfortable. It's just cartoonish and campy.
