Jersey guy
@godmountainboy.bsky.social
Dad and husband. Finance guy by day. 100% Jersey. Friend of nuance and context. Enemy to conspiracy nuts and hyperbole. Generally tired of this shit and wants to travel.
Need to be mindful where we spend $$ and time these days

I want to buy it to support Bluesky- do the proceeds for this support Bluesky or is this a knockoff?

There should be an DOGE "look in the mirror" tracking list of all of the inefficiency, grift and waste the administration is adding to the government

Dems should make Bernie minority leader. He’s passionate, outspoken, smart, sincere, no-nonsense, honest, brash and he connects with everyday Americans. I deeply respect him even when I disagree with him. He would be great.

Yeah f that guy. Dangerous mix of ignorance, arrogance, ambition and spinelessness. Gonna watch with popcorn when he gets cut loose and blamed as things start going south abroad for the US.

And then there’s the problem of the math. Our annual budget deficit is running around 2 trillion (every year) today. Even a one time wealth tax of 12% in your example if take all numbers as is would only cover less than half of 1 year’s deficit

Hey if your idea of fun is fantasizing about billionaire schlong who am I to judge
February 22, 2025 at 5:47 PM
But at least you have the comfort of knowing you’re always right and morally superior to all billionaires
February 22, 2025 at 5:40 PM
I bet you’re fun at parties
February 22, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Dude is yelling at me for actually calling out bad math which helps no one
February 22, 2025 at 5:36 PM
I did explain why the math doesn’t work. Whole lot of anti intellectualism on both right and left these days geez
February 22, 2025 at 5:32 PM
There are other issues with it as well but longer discussion
February 22, 2025 at 3:14 PM
I call it a wealth tax because that is the general term to describe it. If you want call it an asset tax or net worth tax or Mr Scrooge’s horde tax whatever. It doesn’t change the fact that it is not sustainable
February 22, 2025 at 3:13 PM
Let me know if you need help with the sustainability issue
February 22, 2025 at 3:05 PM
A. I’m not an accountant but I at least understand accounting
B. The point which maybe you didn’t get is that as a wealth tax it is not sustainable
February 22, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Yes I’m all for a progressive tax code and eliminating the loopholes that allow lower marginal rates at higher income levels but I see a lot of bad assertions about the math
February 22, 2025 at 3:01 PM
And then there’s the problem of the math. Our annual budget deficit is running around 2 trillion (every year) today. Even a one time wealth tax of 12% in your example if take all numbers as is would only cover less than half of 1 year’s deficit

I don’t know did you? Because I think you are confusing income with wealth. Income is what you earn (usually quoted annually). Wealth is what you own. You are describing a wealth tax, not income tax so even if implemented is not sustainable.
February 22, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Ok whatever. You do you. It’s clearly working
February 22, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Attitudes like this are part of the problem IMO. If you want to solve a problem work yourself on solving the problem. Maybe I’m old school but pointing to a problem and then blaming others for not solving just causes negativity and friction without doing anything for anyone
February 22, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Did you do the math on your own proposal? I’m guessing no
February 22, 2025 at 1:53 PM
Yeah keep being an ass in your comments if you think that works for you. Meanwhile people are still spot on that her comment was off base and….yeah dumb.
February 22, 2025 at 1:48 PM
We may be at a stage where people like your friend will have to see it play out. It will get worse and maybe they see the truth. But also yeah it’s crazy how social media rabbit holes suck folks in and the far right is good at that.
