I had such a lovely text chat with my mama today, and she ended the conversation by calling me her chickadee / Ts'kíkse7 and it made me tear UPPPP UGH. Mama is so deeply traumatized that whenever she speaks Secwepemctsin, i want to scream it from the roof that she's speaking her native language.

I'm truly so lucky that my hyper-talkative type ADHD self is engaged to a silent/partially nonverbal autistic person. We just were sharing a joint and getting ready to cook dinner, and I was chatting away, and jameson's just nodding along while cooking. It feels really good to be accepted. 😭✋️

This is so key. More people (settlers) need to research "environmental racism" and also recognize whose lands they're standing on while they're yapping into that mic.
