Being part German too, I chose to reclaim the offensive and stereotyped Native nutcrackers for authentic representation. AND did you know the Nutcracker ballet became popularized thanks to prima ballerina Maria Tallchief, an Osage woman?! It was obscure until she was the sugar plum fairy.
