It seems like the assumption is that working out your gender and doing stuff to more comfortably live as yourself is translike and therefore gay, as opposed to 'in highlighting how doing stuff to be comfortable as yourself is a deliberate change, it emphasizes transpeople being normal'.

Oh, absolutely. I just think most people don’t actually realize how their own self interest aligns with groups they don’t care about. Like, I’m willing to accept people going ‘don’t step on their neck’ for selfish reasons, even if it doesn’t mean continuous goodwill

The NRA sucks, of course, but there’s a lot of people who suck that I don’t think would connect the dots of ‘screwing over trans people could turn around on us in the future’

(Personally I think one of the biggest differences between the Trump administrations and typical administrations is that they don’t know or care to keep this sort of thing behind closed doors.)

I assume there are some kind of deals made to allow countries to save face by retaliating in ways that would cause less damage and leave more room for de-escalation than an attack without coordination, but just coming out and announcing it is wild

I think the Rosetta Stone to American politics is that we have very few left wing leaders. Years of corruption have led us to the point where there’s a center right party and a far right fringe party, and any left wing politicians on the national stage are an aberration to the system
