My Gingko Biloba tree is putting on a lovely autumn display again this year. The person who planted it never saw it reach its potential 🍁🍁

This lovely Acer is on my front garden wall and every autumn it comes alight with colour 🍁🍁🍁

This has got to be the smiliest face I’ve seen on a dog - even her eyes are smiling. Ilaria is my daughter’s rescue dog from Cyprus. She’s a mixture of many breeds and the sweetest temperament. 🐕🦴🐾

My “Seeds for Bees” are giving me unexpected new autumn wildflowers 🐝🌸🐝

This is Winston - an aptly named English Bulldog that I’m looking after while his owners are on holiday. He’s not keen on walking on grass and he snores a lot! But he’s calm, quiet and easy to look after 🐶

Britain's voting system dates back to the 19th century.

First Past the Post is outdated, unfair and increasingly delivers results that have little to do with what the country wants.

This #DemocracyDay, I'm calling for Proportional Representation - a fair system where every vote counts.

From my morning walk - cobwebs 🕸️

My grapevine has produced a lot of fruit this year. It seems to be a very good year for all kinds of fruit in my part of southeast England 🍇🍒🫐

Unusual sight - very late blackberry blossom seen on the last day of August. Most bushes have already finished ripening fruit for this summer. It will be too cold for the berries to ripen in a couple of months time.

Two different tree ‘tunnels’ from my morning walk. I love the way the sunlight beckons you forward.

My little orchid is blooming it’s heart out for me - it’s been continuously in flower all this year 🌼🌸

Spotted these early sloes when I went blackberry picking this evening. The warm weather is ripening them much earlier than usual. They are naturally bitter so it’s hard to tell if they’re actually ready.

These are known as Windflowers. They grow easily and can be quite invasive on uncultivated ground. They normally grow rather tall but the farmer cut the field in May and so they’ve stayed short, about 6” high. Makes a nice colour display 🌺

My dog walk and blackberry picking this morning turned into a plum bonanza instead. All on the footpath locally and there are many more trees yet to ripen. Had a good afternoon making chutney.

Wild damsons ripening nicely. Looks like a good year for them. This is for you, Michael @mtgallagher.bsky.social

Picked a good lot of blackberries yesterday - the first of the summer. Spotted some damsons ripening nearby. The year is racing by…

These delicate little toadstools have forced their way up through horse manure and arrived overnight.

In my dog boarding role I’m currently looking after these 2 Tibetan Terriers, Toffee and Tattie. Sweet little litter sisters they sleep most of the day! 🐶🦴

I love my little self-seeded Clover patch, and so do the bees and butterflies 🐝 🦋
It’s about 1m x 2.5m just outside my front door but the flowers are now suffering in the heat.

At an outdoor event on a warm English summer evening, these clouds brought a magical touch

On my morning walk - poppies for remembrance 🌺🙏

This was a surprise on my walk - a single little poppy amongst the brambles 🌺

Interesting artefact seen in the Bodleian Library, Oxford. It’s a copy of a telegram sent from The Titanic stating in a very low key way: “Require assistance. Struck iceberg.”

Visited Oxford this week and was astonished at the magnificence inside the chapel in All Souls College at Oxford University. It’s actually quite a small space with only one row of seats but the vaulted ceiling is very high and imposing.

I love to see these tall grass seed heads in summer. They’re pretty to look at and dance in the breeze, and the seeds are velvety soft. Very tactile.
