Artist and staff member Carolyn Woods will give a presentation and demo, followed by an opportunity to sketch in the exhibit hall and draw from marine specimens provided by the center.

Some of you met Emerson at the conference as our conference photographer. They are a wonderful newer face to the organization and I’m excited to see what they do with the role and in the field.

Emerson Harman is a scientific illustrator & graphic designer in Kansas City. They graduated in 2024 with a BFA in Biomedical Art & Visualization from Rowan University and now design graphics & exhibits for institutions nationwide (museums, zoos, & more). Emerson joined GNSI as a student in 2022.

However, the time has come to pass the torch. Fear not, I’ll still be around—you can find me on the Board as our Interim Vice President. I leave this role knowing it'll be in good hands. Please help me welcome Emerson Harman as our new Social Media Director!

If you've reached out to us on socials during that span, it has likely been me behind the screen. I have loved being able to connect with you all, whether it was to help answer a Guild question, connect you with resources, share your event, or just say hi.

The Arcadian Gallery is hosting an opening reception for the in-person exhibit on Friday, October 3 from 6-8 p.m. in Cumberland, Maryland. It's free and open to the public!
