I continue to be absolutely staggered that the people of the Bay Area put up with not only the rampant pollution, but the pathetic impotence of local regulators.

Maybe the abundance bros are right. Maybe people are fine with their kids going school next to this shit?

but hey, at least the air quality regulator that issued Tesla more than 90 notices of violation of the Clean Air Act last year did get the company to agree to a stipulation reading "It is not unreasonable to require Tesla to comply with District rules and regulations"

insanely pathetic shit!

it's been really interesting to see cyclists emerge as one of the more pro-AV factions in SF specifically... big disconnect between reality on the street (where cyclists generally notice an improvement over humans) and online vibes (where the worst mistakes are amplified), IMO

First conviction looks to have been in 1997, for an article published 1996. Others in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2021, 2021 again, and I may have missed some:

So that's consistent with the timeline you gave above.

The sweeps destroy people’s belongings, deprive them of shelter, make medications and crucial documents disappear. Sweeps do not help anyone — they are cruel and traumatizing. If you don’t want encampments of unhoused people, build safe, permanent housing.
