posting a largely-completed section of a still-work-in-progress piece to: a.) show that i'm still alive and still working, and b.) express the joy i take all the forms of shading and rendering in pixel art

If I made a few posts discussing dithering, related techniques including color use & balance and how I utilize them, would there be any interest in that? I could compile and make a larger, more in-depth discussion and guide in addition, as well. Pictured: 3 examples I have an amount of fondness for

my interest is in expressive colors and dense, experimental dithering. #portfolioday #portfolio #pixelart

a piece from a distant commissioned project, a dim cavern background painted in shades of blue, with the only reprieve being rays of deep blue moonlight

2024 saw a lot of developing for larger-scale, more intensive works, focused on dense shading and detailing with robust palettes and experimental dithering. Here's hoping that 2025 will see some of these to completion!

Another piece from 2017. I had really strong, conflicting feelings about this particular one upon completion & posting, but I think my perspective has shifted and I appreciate it a bit more. I may revamp or remake it?

While I'm still posting older pieces, this was a (finished) album cover that I was commissioned to make for dipocephalus' album Magno that I completed back in 2017. There are aspects of this that gnaw at me, that I'd do differently were I to make it now (I might double the resolution, for one).

Sometimes I find an old piece (2015!) isn't meant to be finished, that a work-in-progress communicates everything that it needs to. That absence, that lack of refinement & superfluous detailing enhances that base expression. There is always room for it to evolve into /another/ piece, but for now...

abandoned piece for a project from a few years back: still really happy with the palette and the rendering for the plant-life.

Speaking of work-in-progresses... here's a pixel painting i've been tinkering with for the better part of the year now, of a not-quite-blue-sky.

I suppose I ought to start posting on Bluesky now? Here's a work-in-progress pixel art portrait I've been working on lately.
