#lewisiangneiss is a wonderful material to work with. Here in a fabulous local wall.
Thankfully diamond tools enable us to produce small delicate forms from this mass of metamorphic marvel and we pride ourselves on being the first to carve earrings from stone more typically used as aggregate #gneiss

If you are a professional carver in the Outer Hebrides it’s compulsory to carve a Lewis chess piece.
This is one we carved using the tonal bands of Lewisian Gneiss to add depth.
Available currently in our studio.

Over many thousands of hours carving we’ve developed a pattern language which draws inspiration from both nature and archeology.
This is basically a Venn diagram. In a wearable form.

Hebridean geology necklaces are curated from our slow carved beads. To form a bead, first we sustainably source some stone, then we cut it into cubes ensuring to remove any fractures. Then we grind the cube to a cylinder, then a sphere. Then drill hole, bevel hole, sand, polish and wax before string

It’s a great pity that due to the insanity of isolationism we are no longer able to export work to Europe and perhaps soon anywhere else if the orange fascist cult continues to metastasize. If however you are in the UK and especially in Scotland, we welcome trade enquiries. #scotland #scottishgifts

In the Outer Hebrides
Our slow carved work is handmade at home and our post production finishing studio is located at Seilebost Old School. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
