So many people equate “thinking critically” with “being critical” of everything

It matters a ton who the candidate is

Janet Mills is an actual, experienced politician who has served Maine over several decades & won statewide

Mills is a boring-but-reliable sedan as a game show prize, and that will prove to be MORE VALUABLE IN THE LONG RUN than whatever is in the ✨Mystery Box✨

The only outcome that matters after the election is the Senate seat shifting over to the (D) column

Maine Dems shouldn’t try & get flashy or cute. Just go w/ the proven candidate (Mills) & it’s an easy flip

I was all aboard the Platner Train a few weeks ago too, but he’s clearly smoke & mirrors

Is Platner being torn down, or can his perfectly crafted veneer just not withstand the most basic level of scrutiny?

It’s Maine. You just need a (D) next to the seat, there is no reason to fuck this up

That being said, if I were a Mainer, I’d vote for the eventual winner of the primary without fear or favor, and I hope any Mills/Platner supporter would do the same

If he were a mayor, or town council member etc. & there was a clear progression of a true grassroots political career, that would be one thing. But from Blackrock to…U.S. Senator? 😬

It’s a campaign based on vibes and flashy videos. And I’m saying this as exactly the target audience for those videos

I’ve given this a lot of thought, and while Platner seems badass & cool, doing things the right way matters

Platner is trying to shortcut Mills’ decade’s worth of experience by going viral. He’s a flash in the pan, flavor of the week. Mills is a sitting GOVERNOR who has won at every level

This is good framing

It would make sense if ALL 3 of the Tennessee Three were making the same play, because 3 is at least a larger number than 1.

But still, why not leave Steve Cohen alone and challenge incumbent Republicans - so that number may be be as high as FOUR

I’m close to Pearson in age, and probably more aligned w/ him ideologically. But it’s about having MORE seats than the other guys. This move doesn’t represent a Net Gain of seats. If he wins, Pearson would have defeated an otherwise-valuable ally and would be alone in the wilderness.
