Very well done to the St Thomas’ CE Primary School student in Stockport who received the Year 6 Mock Trial Court Artist prize at the school assembly on Friday. Presented by the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of GM & a GM-MIC team member. The competition saw many impressive entries.

We were pleased to participate in the Crucial Crew Event, which took place over 5 days last week. Through 84 swift-turnaround workshops, we engaged with 735 students addressing the topic of cyber bullying & its potential legal consequences for those transitioning to high school.

The Year 6 Mock Trial Court Reporter prize was won by a student from Horwich Parish CE Primary, Bolton. We are very grateful to The Lord-Lieutenant of GM for presenting the prize this morning during the school assembly. Well done to all the students who entered.

Button Lane Primary School has won the 2025 GM MIC Year 6 Mock Trial Competition. Horwich Parish Primary finished as the runners-up. Congratulations to all. A big thank you to all the teaching staff who helped to make this such an enjoyable day.

We are excited to be holding our 8th annual Year 6 Mock Trial Competition next week. This Grand Final will include 16 schools & over 160 students from all of the boroughs of Greater Manchester, each having triumphed in their respective local heats. Good luck to all participants.

Our largest event is the annual Year 6 Mock Trial Competition. This year, with the local heats, we will conduct 25 mock trials involving 34 schools and 340 students. Six partner agencies, including the GM Fire & Rescue Service & Police will attend the Grand Final. gmma-mic.net

This past year, the GM MIC team has been busy visiting 197 schools, colleges, & community groups, reaching 8,650 students: 72% were primary schools, 20% were secondary schools & colleges, the rest were community groups. All ten boroughs of Greater Manchester were included.

Some of the Greater Manchester Magistrates Association & Magistrates in the Community team were honoured to receive a crystal & citation representing the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. The presentation was made by Lord-Lieutenant Diane Hawkins JP LLB at the Gorton Monastery

On Friday we held the first two Local Heats for our annual Year 6 MockTrial Competition at Tameside Magistrates Court, giving students an authentic courtroom experience. The winners and runners-up will go onto the Grand Final at Hemsley House in Salford.
