At the very last moment, GMIAU solicitor Cecilia stepped in and managed to stop her removal for now.
It’s a huge relief, but her case isn’t over.
The refusal of her asylum claim and application for leave to remain as a victim of trafficking must be reconsidered.

🧵 Pro bono work has never been so important. It fills critical gaps left by the limitations of legal aid and stands as a testament to the dedication of lawyers who care deeply about fairness and equality.
We also recognise the huge amount of pro bono work already carried out by legal aid lawyers.

Now, more than ever, we need to listen to their stories so that truth and empathy can take the place of misinformation and misunderstanding.

To our community: thank you for raising up this statement and making it headline news.
To the Home Office: It's time to do better. It is not illegal to seek safety. The government must stop whipping up the same hatred we have seen erupt outside hotels, endangering the people forced to live in them.

"We are furious at the level of illegal migrants and asylum hotels."
No acknowledgement of the facts and concerns raised, the human beings involved, or their own responsibility for the use of hotels.
This is not good enough.
