I just got off a phone bank shift for Maine. People were energized and happy to be voting their principles! They also reported good crowds at the polls. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Kids I grew up with would say of another kid — unrelated by blood but that they were really close to — “we’re going cousins…” Scandalous!

I see in parts of Europe, consumers are asked to separate recycling, down to type of plastic. They may have less material going through the recycling process but do they end up with more material actually recycled?
If it’s “recycled” into trash, is it really recycled?

I understood that very little plastic going into recycling bins actually gets recycled, that there is no market for these materials. The would-be innovators I’ve spoken with about their attempts to invent uses for recycled plastic say the material is too dirty coming out of the waste stream

True?

Tarija is not a wealthy place by any means so it’s great they had a front end loader to clear the streets.

Vid shows damage to a metal-roofed building but most live in thatched huts so I wonder how they fared.

The future always arrives sooner for some than others.

It’s great you feel you’re in the vanguard. Can you cheer on those who are coming behind you as fast as they can?

The larger point is that scolding people who are doing much better than their peers, telling them they’re not doing enough, is counter-productive.

The only way you can get to > 100 mpg is if most trips are fully battery-powered. MPG is a useful proxy for emissions.

My PHEV reports over 100 mpg avg since I got it a few years ago.

No question, we’d be better off if most people drove BEVs — but PHEVs can be part of the answer too, with proper regulation and driver education.

I say that in jest, of course. Anyone familiar with our history as a country would have no difficulty recalling times when a court order to obey the law would have been very helpful. Amazing, in fact, the judiciary is standing strong against Trump!
