Just skimmed through the FCC licence and documents. They have requirements on active collision avoidance, but no mention of whether it's autonomous. Interestingly, they have an automated disposal burn.

Not sure whether that makes autonomous collision avoidance more likely.

Satellites can only survive above ~125 km in circular orbits.

So, is space at 80, 100, or 125 km?

There isn't a consensus, it depends who you ask.

The Kármán line is *an* internationally recognised definition, not *the* definitive boundary of space.

Virgin Galactic use 50 mi (80 km) US definition.

Supporting 80 km; satellites maintain elliptical orbits with 80 km perigee, and it also marks the mesosphere's edge.

The venerable @planet4589.bsky.social makes a very compelling argument for 80 km, here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Let's hope for more favourable weather soon! These high latitude sites are great for reaching sun synchronous orbits but are prone to inclement wind.

I suspect this will be common theme as Europe stands up the non-equatorial spaceports.

Excellent, looking forward to reading it with my daughter. Merry Christmas to you!

I wonder how this varies between given name and surname. I can imagine being bothered enough to correct someone if my forename was mispronounced, but I've never experienced that. My surname is frequently mispronounced, and I couldn't care less.

Sounds like you might have sorted it? Do shout if not, I managed to link my domain with relative ease. Happy to help.

Sadly I think 'Through the Air Loch' would be lost on children, that's my best effort though. Best of luck, I think any of your options would be great!

Thanks Joey, sounds great, I will certainly check it out!

The character limit prevented me stating the obvious; The use of such a package would have avoided any such disaster.

Very proud to be a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Chartered Engineer. I advocate for all to join. I did so nearly 20 years ago as a student, and have never looked back.

My first post on Bluesky, and my first spelling mistake. Starting as I mean to go on!
