I feel like a difficult point here is the noise created by tires on road, even EVs still create a lot of noise at a decent speed. Another good reason to generally slow cars down.

Pretty neat, I wonder what the building code requirements for that look like. Having that kind of thing standardized would really help for adoption.

Any idea what specifically is different about these that would prevent fires? Thermal runaways are pretty inherent to lithium batteries, but I could see if they had implemented some sort of new safety measure they could make that claim.

Dunno about Tesla specifically, but generically EV chargers usually aren't the problem in winter weather. The EV's battery needs to be within a certain temperature range to get max efficiency. Chargers will derate for that. The only thing I could think of would be a non-winter coolant in the charger.

As someone who works on EVs, the craziest part of this whole thing is the lack of egress points in the tiny tunnel they go through. If a thermal event were to ever occur on one of those, the fire/fumes would be incredibly dangerous. Is there any kind of safety system for that kind of thing?

As someone who used to work in the auto industry and is a huge car/racing guy, I always explain it as I love racing, can't stand driving. People on track are attentive and for the most part predictable, not the case on most roads.

Plus as more people buy the larger car it turns it into a car accident prisoners dilemma
