Patriotic, as it turns out 🇺🇸
I also appreciate how in some points they honor popular superstitions without fully endorsing them. Like there is this cool display for the crown of thorns relic but all the placards kind of equivocate and use language like “venerated by many as Jesus’ crown of thorns”.

Tired: Chase voters with poll tested policy positions.

Wired: Chase voters with poll tested weasels.

BO7 was released in CA at 9:00 PM. I joined at 10:30 PM and already half the people I was playing against had maxed out guns. The upgrade slog begins!

I struggle to believe that Musk is smart enough for any of that. I encounter a lot of people online, supposedly smart people themselves, who swear he's a smart guy but in the entire time I've been aware of him I have never heard him sound smart for three sentences straight.

Not to pick on this relative, but there is a solipsism or narcissism buried at the heart of many people’s conception of God where either you don’t think about the guy who got bad results at all, or you think they are somehow not worthy like you.

I’m not sure he wants to make this part of the referendum.

What did you think “Cast into the eternal fire” meant, meetings? papers? essays?

How many people in America understand this screenshot?

By understand I am including knowing that the critic here is a fiercely anti-MAGA anti-Groyper (former?) race-theorist with a white-supremacist past who voted for Trump in 2024.

It’s head spinning.

The null hypothesis, that nothing went wrong, is rarely considered. What if ejections are just random and you are just chasing noise? What if improving your chances of winning is impossible because the factors that matter aren’t I our control?

Watch this clip and tell me that that man isn’t thinking about having sex with his new robot.

That woman too.

Why stop with "narco-terrorist". There's so many other types of terrorists you can wage undeclared war on. Border "invaders", "no kings" terrorists. Oh, look,

I'm unlikely to turn into a full blown Blue Sky MY hater because I like this form of humor too much.

This was what one relative posted in reaction to the No Kings protests. I think this is a pretty good summary of the heart of evangelical Christianity today. The main point of Jesus is not serving others, turning the other cheek, and so on, but relishing the future submission of everyone else.

* There were volunteers with bullhorns and whistles to stop the crowd and direct traffic at intersections and to let the train through the park. I talked to the little old woman stopping the crowd for the train. She said, “It’s a small role but I want to do something”.

* 90% of signs were hand made.
* I’d say 1/10 people were carrying a US flag.
* There were a few Mexico flags but they were outnumbered about 20 to 1 with US flags.

* The crowd skewed over 50. I almost felt like a young person.

I went to the No Kings march in San Jose. Here are some quick observations:

* 65% of the signs were about democracy, the bill of rights, against dictators.
* 15% of signs were about ICE.
* 20% were about every issue that popped into someone’s head.

Bought two more flags at True Value. 12” x 8”, I think they were $4-5 each but I didn’t pay close attention. I have six now, so I can share. I bought a dowel rod and this foam board at CVS. Now I’ve got to decide what to put on it.

Here's how I plan to look on Saturday. By nature I'm not a flag waving kind of guy. All of the U.S.A! U.S.A! chants after 9/11 felt very cringe to me (partly because we are too big and powerful to need to thump our chests at a few pissant terrorists).

Being a victim doesn't confer virtue on you. Doing something noble doesn't erase your crimes.
