This is not the first time British troops have been sent to Ukraine since February 2022, however. They've been there for the duration of this phase of the war (and before but that's a distinct thing).

One big factor in why Britain is particularly aggressive over Ukraine: Shell secured a 50 year exclusive deal to exploit the natural gas fields in the east of Ukraine, between Kharkiv and Donetsk, in late 2013. The outbreak of war has stopped the investment from realisation.
