Good point, but how a fantasy novel ends isn’t necessarily constrained by genre. So when a fantasy book has strong romantic elements, how do you play fair with romance readers while not “spoiling” fantasy readers? Does it really come down to where the book is shelved and how it’s marketed?

I have a tangential concern… how do you responsibly signal that a book is NOT a romance without it also being a spoiler for how the book ends (or at least how the romantic subplot resolves)?
