There seems to be a (not so) hidden message in today’s Connections on the NYT website for @vcorenmitchell.bsky.social and her team . #OnlyConnect

After today’s BBC Sounds update, it has now become absolutely impossible to listen to a music programme from overseas n good faith…. I had found a technical loophole which had worked fn until yesterday. Time to go and investigate further the murky world of VPNs then.

Another of these little needless vexations the Beeb is inflicting on us poor overseas listeners:
For Radio 4, which is the one station we are given the easiest access to, on a dedicated app and everything, the love feed can’t be navigated at all. It makes listening to Just A Minute near impossible.

Nice of Lucas Hedges to come and give a hand to a #universitychallenge team. A middling 14 for me.

There is some serious quizzing going on in #onlyconnect right now….

Because of BBC Sounds fuckery, I missed #OnlyConnect but managed to squeeze in #universitychallenge. A good game, I thought, with a team that promised much in the first half but sadly sort of faded away as the game progressed. 17 for me.

Glad to see the Holy Trinity of Monday night quizzing reunited. Impossible walls and an entertaining #universitychallenge game, for which I got a poor 14 correct answers. I need to brush up on my punk. See you next week.

The #BBCSounds situation is not as dire as first feared, I’ve kept the ability to navigate inside the current show, and even to restart it at the beginning. I can work with that, to some extent. It’s still a harsh goodbye to Matt Everitt but I got my Just A Minute fix just fine, which is nice.

Well, even though the BBC is more and more inward-looking, #QuizzyMondays are still available in Belgium, so it’s a welcome return for #universitychallenge. I’ll try to be more active this year. :)

One week away from the Great BBC Sounds Overseas Shutdown, I’m still unsure of what will still be available on the bbc.co.uk website or the bbc.com app. Anything on demand? Only livestreams? In the unlikely event that someone with responsibility reads this, this is what I hope to be able to….

That uk #eurovision song is very strange. It seems to start anew every 20 seconds. I think I like it though.

And then I suddenly realised I stopped tweeting about #universitychallenge a month ago. I guess the lack of interaction on here took its toll. I’ll try to be there for the final, whenever that’ll be. #teamWarwick

I was quietly hoping Open would go through, but on the strength of both teams’ performance, it was the right result. Some very good quizzing from both teams though and all four UCL contestants looked at times like they were going to be their team’s MVP. A paltry 11 for me. #universitychallenge

Great #UniversityChallenge tonight with two great teams, which shows how huge performances in earlier rounds don’t always translate in the quarters. Having just read a great novel about Belfast (Close To Home), I’m pleased by the result. A fair 17 for me, a relief after my disastrous score last week

Missing a rare SHINee-related gig in Belgium (Taemin) and going to see a concert of contemporary orchestral music instead is peak Glorafin, for better and for worse…

Two impressive teams on #universitychallenge tonight. Very quick buzzing too. I’m going to say that’s the reason why my personal score is so abysmal (7). Or maybe the questions fell awkwardly far from my interests. Or I’m just getting dumber. Still, an impressive first qualification for the semis.
March 10, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Very difficult set of questions on tonight’s #universitychallenge, I thought. To get a 300+ team around 150 is tough work for question writers, but they did it. At least we’ll see both teams again. 14 for me, but I’m giving myself a red card for not immediately recognizing Ben Whishaw in Bright Star

Another impressive performance by Darwin in tonight’s #universitychallenge tonight. It made a team as impressive as UCL look pedestrian. A middling 15 right answers for me.
