Feel like this guy at PC Gamer hasnt really given Gears a fair shake. Not saying the its high art, but isnt really "dumb" the original trilogy is a story about human survival, loss and brotherhood. All good themes with some fairly emotional set pieces tbh with depictions of suicide.
