I finally found it: the Chinese app for restaurants that provides a filter for „vegetarian“. Can only be installed through a Chinese app store but is also available within WeChat (微信). Just in time before my two weeks of travelling. Will test! :)

Love it: „speak Putonghua“ - as if this were an English word. It is in fact pinyin for 普通话 which means mandarin, the common language every child learns besides the local dialects.

Realising and accepting that my energy is limited. Only because others can do activities every day and be among people, it doesn’t mean I have to force myself. But it does annoy me sometimes.

Auntie cooks for the guests of the b&b here. And it feels eerily like being with my blood family. Including the complete lack of respect or understanding that I need my time to wake up in the morning. Plus discussions about me not eating meat at every meal.

Having class in Chinese countryside for a week and my very liberal teacher uses newly learned vocabulary to remind me where I am: you can’t speak out loud that you’re queer. You can’t let other people know here.
But on the other hand probably the same in some German villages.

Next level of my gong fu tea practise: how to handle the gai wan (盖碗）? I‘m not perfect yet but at least I didn’t burn myself so far. I practise with bai cha (白茶 - white tea) and intend to spend my afternoon with this ritual. You can brew this tea up to 15 times.

The look on their faces when you react to their exclamation „外国人！“ (foreigner!) with „是的、我是外国人。” (yes, I‘m a foreigner). I find this Chinese habit of calling me out for what I quite obviously am so very rude. But they seem to feel caught when they realise I could understand them.

Had to renew my esim after one month in China. Turns out #mobimatter’s new esim for whatever reason cannot be activated in China. I suspect the great firewall. Their support was not helpful and even want me to pay a fee of 3€ for returning the useless esim. Fun! #airalo saved me. Their esim works.

Wow, there‘s no such thing as privacy when bringing a package to the Chinese post. They open the package and open everything packaged inside, inspect the items and re-pack everything. I‘m seriously upset. I bluntly asked them if I should also translate the letter I put inside for them. 😡

As a fire fighter and a biker I‘m simply delighted to see the firefighter bike 😍
Went to the FIRE MUSEUM (消防博物館) in Yotsuya yesterday and it was very good! Highly recommend! They had a sweet fire fighting motorcycle and a ton on fire fighting from the Edo period to present day. I forgot to take pictures of most of the stuff, cause it was too interesting
