Had a couple of parents threaten to come into my class on Wednesday and sit at the back as they think the classroom needs “another adult present”. My principal literally just said: I don’t know how to reply as this email is so ridiculous.

After spending my Sunday morning, preparing a complex maths lesson for my upper primary class, my whole lesson was derailed by a parent who showed up unannounced with cupcakes and a large sugary cake to celebrate their child’s birthday. Thanks, but aaaaaah!

An individual parent may be lovely, but a group of parents is exactly like an 18-month-old child. No matter what you do as a teacher/ parent (of an 18-month-old child) they’ll always be whining, moaning and crying.

The teacher shortage in Australia, the UK, and countries in Europe like The Netherlands is having a degrading impact on the whole profession. Some of the teachers I work with are so assured of their position, that they think they can get away with not doing any planning at all.
