Tina believes many girls in #Germany 🇩🇪 dream of going to EGMO to meet others from around the world and do math together. She has also watched friends leave math because they were the only girls at events, which shapes how she thinks about community and support.

At that first camp, Tina learned the basics of Olympiad math, met like-minded students, and heard a seminar leader describe math as “like a diamond: incredibly hard, useful in many ways, and very beautiful” – a line that has stayed with her.

Teaching felt awkward at first, especially online when no one answered his questions, but as students engage, he finds it fun and wants to keep going alongside topology and general relativity at @imperialcollege.

He calls the Math Olympiad community “one of the best things” in his life and the first place he felt he could be himself. In India, students in his circle run online Olympiad clubs where schools often do not, & he has already taught lectures in number theory, combinatorics, & inequalities.

During COVID, Aadish found @3blue1brown.com and watched linear algebra and calculus videos that showed him math was more than school exercises. That pushed him toward higher math like group theory, serious Olympiad prep in 11th grade, and eventually camp and IMO Silver.

Clement likes how the IBO feels like real scientific work because “you are solving a problem instead of just spitting out things you already know.”
